CANDIL Update January 2005

What CANDIL has been up to

Julie continues working on school presentations. She is also organizing meetings with MP's to discuss the situation in Iraq. They have met with three so far, two went well and the MP's showed interest. A report on the meetings will be put on the webpage.

Hans von Sponeck, Bill Phipps and David Swann will be speaking at the March 19th fundraising event. The event will take place at the West Hillhurst Community Centre and will be $30 ticket. Julie is going to look into getting the editor of Alberta Views to speak. As well, they have offered to sell magazines at this event in a joint fundraising effort.

CANDIL is helping to organize the rally on March 19th. The march will begin at Tompkins park and will be a silent march with black flags and the names of Iraqi civilian casualties being read out. The march will end at Tompkins Park and we will have two speakers (Bill Phipps and Dijla Al-Rekabi).

The CANDIL movie night is on January 28th and we are finally showing Coca Mama.
